The Bob Bender Memorial Scholarship Award

Bob Bender was a former Holland Speedway Late Model competitor, a Western New York business owner, and Graduate of the Potter Road BOCES vocational program, who tragically lost his life in a construction accident. The Bob Bender Memorial Scholarship Award is given in honor of Bob’s memory each year to a deserving Western New York BOCES vocational student who in the course of his vocational education demonstrates outstanding leadership and metal fabrication skills.

Bob’s wife Missy Bender, his children Cassie and Brandon and the entire Bender family are proud to present the 2001 Bob Bender Memorial Scholarship Award to Christopher Damian out of West Seneca New York and the Potter Road BOCES Welding program. Chris is a hardworking and outstanding student and looks forward to further his education by attending the Alfred State College. Congratulations Chris Damian and good luck at Alfred and in your future!

Honorary Starter

Two years ago a good friend of ours and one of our Cup Lites Officials, Dave Mitchell, was seriously wounded on his job as an undercover Police Officer in Jamestown, NY. We are happy to report that Dave is healed up and back with us helping to Officiate at this race. We are also very pleased to have Dave as our Honorary Starter for the 2001 Ted’s 100 / Bob Bender Memorial Race.
